TITLE: 263 Kolon Village Church
The Kolon Church can be seen in this excerpt. According to legend and tradition, St. Istvan (St. Stephen) erected a church in Kolon. Accordingly, he once ate dinner at the spot where the church now stands, however, he had forgotten his sterling silverware there. So, he sent an emissary back for it, one who found it easily in total darkness due to the fact that two lit candles were burning beside the silverware. It was in memory of this occasion that the King decreed a church to be built on that site. According to Slovak historical researchers the church was built in 1070.
