605 Eger/Fedémes Women's choir of Fedémes, Hungary (2002).
This performance was given by the women's choir of Fedémes, at a cultural event held in the Eger folk dancing club in 2002. They are singing a medley of folk songs. This is a short excerpt of the recording we made at the event.
Melodies:
"The fork-tailed swallow", performed here as: "Swallow a swallow flies through the air..."
Although in this recording the women give an authentic performance of this new-style folk song, theatrical folklore preservation should not be confused with genuine folk singing, when one or more persons sing a song befitting the given situation, for the benefit of their specific circle of friends or immediate community.
In Hungary the tradition of theatrical folklore preservation dates as far back as the 1930s.
The Fedémes women's choir is among the best of the folklore preservation groups, because in their home village (at least among the older residents) the folk-singing traditions, handed down from one generation, to the next are still alive.

dallamok:
-"Villásfarkú fecske", itt: "Fecske, fecske, fecske, fecske száll a levegőben" kezdettel.
